Mahindra Launches The XUV300 Diesel BS6 Variant
Mahindra had launched the XUV300 compact SUV in India last year in the month of February. Towards the end of 2019, the company updated the petrol version of the XUV300 to meet the BS6 norms with a slight hike in the price. Mahindra has now upgraded the diesel engine of the compact SUV to meet the BS6 emission norms. The car will still be offered in four variants – W4, W6, W8, and W8(O).
However, when the company updated the petrol engine we saw a hike in the prices, but the prices for the BS6 diesel variants remain the same as the BS4 ones. There have been no upgrades done to the car except the engine. The prices of the BS6 diesel variants start from Rs 8.69 lakh and goes all the way up to the Rs 12.69 lakh mark (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
The compact SUV features a sleek front grille with chrome-studded inserts. The grille also comes with a thin chrome strip on the top, which integrates with the LED DRLs on the headlamps on either side. The LED DRLs further extend down to the fog lamps, providing a distinct look to the XUV300. The front bumpers come with a large intake and fog lamps on either end.
Top of the line features includes a sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, push-button start/stop, keyless entry, electric tailgate release and cruise control out of many. Standard safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
Mechanically, the BS6-compliant diesel engine will be the same 1.5-litre unit that has been carried forward from the Marazzo. However, the power figures for the updated engine has not yet been disclosed, but we expect it to remain the same as the BS4 version producing 114.5bhp of power and 300Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed AMT.
