Tata Gravitas Automatic Variant Spotted Testing Ahead Of India Launch

The Tata Gravitas automatic variant has been spotted testing for the first time in the country. Spy pics uploaded by Gaadiwaadi reveal a camouflaged test mule that features an automatic transmission.

Spy pics reveal that the upcoming Tata Gravitas will feature a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission unit that is Hyundai built. Expectations are that a six-speed manual will be offered as standard, with the AMT being optional. Spy pics also reveal a horizontally mounted touchscreen infotainment system, a layered dashboard, and a semi-digital instrument cluster.

The upcoming Tata Gravitas features the company’s OMEGA platform that is also seen on the Harrier. However, the Gravitas has a longer rear overhang, is longer than the Harrier, and will offer third row seating. The vehicle also features a new set of alloy wheels and has has a bump on the roof starting at the B pillars in order to offer more headroom to third row occupants. The all-new Gravitas MPV will also feature a re-designed LED tail lights.

Powering the all-new Tata Gravitas will be the 2.0-litre four-cylinder Kryotec diesel engine that currently produces 168bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. These figures are expected to have minor changes because of the BS6 compliance. Tata’s new seven-seater is scheduled to make its debut at the Delhi Auto Expo 2020, and will most likely be launched soon after. The MPV is expected to be priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom, India). In Tata related news, the company is ready to launch the much awaited Altroz premium hatchback this month. Tata Motors has opened pre-bookings for the upcoming hatchback. Bookings can be made either online or at any authorized company dealership across the country for an amount of Rs 21,000.
