Toyota C-HR Spied Testing In India Ahead Of Possible Launch

Recently, a highly camouflaged test mule of the Toyota C-HR was snapped testing by ElectricVehicleWeb.in on the NICE Road in Bengaluru. However, this is not the first time that this crossover has been spotted testing in our country.

We car expect the Toyota C-HR to be seen at the Auto Expo 2020. Also, as the car was highly camouflaged, which indicates that it might hit the Indian shores sometime soon in the near future. The Toyota C-HR will be using the company’s TNGA modular platform and is expected to come to us through the CBU or the CKD route and will be positioned as a niche product from the carmaker’s portfolio.

Under the hood, globally, the C-HR has been available with a range of engine options. The engine options include a 1.2-litre, turbo petrol engine, a 1.8-litre, hybrid powertrain and a 2.0-litre, Hybrid Dynamic Force system. However, we are not sure yet what engine options will be offered by Toyota for India.

Also, the car will be featuring a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery which comprises 180 cells and draws a voltage of just 216 V. The main electric motor is said to churn out 80 KW of power and a peak torque of 202 Nm, and it will also act as a generator when the car is in regenerative braking mode.

As seen in other EVs, the battery packs will be situated below the rear seats to increase the cabin space. Toyota will also be using its latest optimized cooling efficiency technology and wider energy regeneration range.

As far as the design is concerned, the 2020 Toyota C-HR retains the bold styling elements that give the crossover a distinctive look. Other features include an all-LED headlamp cluster with an adaptive front lighting system, a black-painted roof, an all-black interior with blue highlights, and a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
