7.5 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Philippines, Tsunami Alert Issued

An intense earthquake of 7.5 magnitude shook Mindanao, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). The depth of the quake was 63 kilometers, EMSC added.

It doesn’t seem to last here as following the tremors, the US tsunami warning system has issued a tsunami warning.

Last month, on November 17, a 6.7 magnitude offshore quake hit the Southern Philippines killing eight people.

Earthquakes are very frequent in Philippines which lies on the “Ring of fire”, a belt of volcanoes encircling the giant Pacific ocean which is seismically the most active zone in the world.
