Elon Musk Vs Vinod Khosla: Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently criticized Indian-American billionaire Vinod Khosla in a heated social media exchange. Musk called Khosla “dumb” and challenged his claims about Argentina’s economy under the new conservative president, Javier Milei.
The argument, which quickly gained attention online, began when Khosla criticized Milei’s policies, much to Musk’s annoyance, as he is a strong supporter of the Argentinian leader.
Argentinas unemployment rate soars to 52% under Mileis dictatorial austerity program. Same will happen under @realDonaldTrump as he slashes spending. His tariffs will simultaneously increase inflation. https://t.co/sLxAxhEiVJ

Vinod Khosla tweeted on X the connection of the austerity program of President Milei with economic depression and drawing a parallel with former U.S. President Donald Trump’s policy. He posted, “Argentina’s unemployment rate has now reached 52% under Milei’s tight austerity program. The same will happen under @realDonaldTrump when he cuts spending. His tariffs will also increase inflation.” Along with this message, Khosla shared the Financial Times article about the rise in Argentina’s poverty rate.
Khosla’s Tweet Received A Sharp Response From Elon Musk
The news received a sharp response from Musk, known to be a strong proponent of the libertarian approach embraced by Milei, addressing Khosla as “dumb” for what he considered a post on false facts.
Poverty is gross underemployment. Too nuanced for macho brains to understand. My nuance vs. your outright posting of false pics? I get a community comment and yours didn’t. I thought you were above this kind of bias at X. https://t.co/roEVT9mxVI

X’s community notes also fact-checked Khosla’s claims that Argentina’s unemployment rate had “increased to 52 percent,” arguing that it had actually declined to 7.6 percent in the second quarter of 2024, down slightly from 7.7 percent in the previous period.
