US President Donald Trump stated that the US will take control of Gaza, develop it, and keep it for the long term. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced it a historic plan that could change Gaza’s future.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday stated that America will take over the war-torn Palestinian territory, Gaza Strip, after Palestinians are resettled elsewhere and “will develop it,” and “own it”. The US President conducted a joint press conference with Isaraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after their meeting where he surprised everyone by this statement. He said that he sees a “long-term US ownership” of Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supported Trump and said that the Republican leader’s idea is “something that could change history” and noted that Trump envisions a different future for Gaza. This announcement is expected to create a shocking impact on the globe significantly impact the geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East.

Since October 2023, Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas have been fighting a deadly war in Gaza. Recently, they agreed to stop fighting. Israeli attacks have destroyed many buildings in Gaza, making it impossible for people to live there. Many families have lost their homes and had to leave. Gaza is an extremely crowded area with about 2.1 million people.

“We will own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site,” the US President said. Trump further said that he envisions people from all over the world living in Gaza after his development plan, adding that he plans to visit Gaza, Israel and Saudi Arabia during a future trip to the Middle East. although, he did not specify any timing.

In support Israel Prime Minister said that Trump was “thinking outside the box with fresh ideas” and was “showing willingness to puncture conventional thinking”.

The US President did notmake it clear how and under what authority he can actually take control over Gaza, a foreign land, and occupy it in the long term.
