Does US want to capture Gaza Strip, the land, which Jews have been claiming to be there “holy land” for centuries and Palestinians have been fighting for decades as their only place to live in?
Does construction tycoon-turned politician Donald Trump eye this beauatiful land to convert it as a highly profitable “Riviera of the Middle East”?
Where will go the Palestinians, who have already been expelled from their motherland with hundreds of thousands living as refugees in neighbouring countries of Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Syria and others?
Will US Capture Gaza Strip?
Enough hullabaloo has been generated after the US President said Wednesday that the US would take over the Gaza Strip, rebuild it and develop it as a “Riviera of the Middle East”.
Trump shocked many people as the US policy on the Palestinian question has been so far to back the two-nation theory as envisioned by the UN in 1948.
The US has been supporting so far the UN Resolution on partioning the disputed land between Jewish state of Israel and Palestine livig side by side as sovereign independent nations.
Gaza, the land of more than two million people, mostly Muslim Palestinians, have been bombed relently for more than 15 months, killing more than 45,000 people.
The Israel-Hamas war has also rendered about two million residents homeless.
Does US Want ‘Long-Term Ownership’ Of Gaza Strip?
After the Israel-Hamas ceasefire was signed and the first part of it was implemented, the US president shocked the world.
Donald Trump said that the US would take over the Gaza Strip and do a job with it too.
He also indicated his intention to take control of the land for a long time by unveiling what he called his “long-term ownership” and redevelopment plan for the enclave.
After meeting Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, Trump said,”We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings.”
Will Donald Trump Send US Troops To Gaza?
Analysts believe, the US has military ambition too as the president did not rule out sending troops to the Gaza Strip and taking military action after he said “as far as Gaza is concerned, we’ll do what is necessary.”
International observers point out that Donald Trump has not hidden his agenda of using the land for profit and convert it as the “Riviera of the Middle East”.
Will Gaza Become ‘Riviera Of Middle East’
Talking to journalists he said, “We have an opportunity to do something that could be phenomenal. And I don’t want to be cute, I don’t want to be a wise guy, but the Riviera of the Middle East, this could be something that could be so — this could be so magnificent.”
Making his intention of developing his real estate empire in the area clear, the US President said, “I envision the world people living there. The world’s people. I think you’ll make that into an international, unbelievable place.”
Will US Drive Palestinians Out?
The US design of driving the Palestinians out of their land and bringing other people to live there is also clear by what the US President said.
Donald Trump rejected the idea of allowing the Palestinians to their home. Describing Gaza Strip as the symbol of death and destruction, he asked, “Why would they want to return? The place has been hell.”
He also said that the Palestinians should be provided a “good, fresh, beautiful piece of land” to live.
The irony can be gauged by the fact that tens of thousands of Palestinians waited for hours to return to their destroyed homes in Gaza after a ceasefire was implemented.
Though Trump’s comment sent shock waves across the world, anlysts also point out what he did in his first term of presidency from 2016 to 2020.
Trump changed the decades-old US foreign policy by recognising Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights.
He also recognised Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and moved the US Embassy there.

What Has Israel’s Far-Right Said?
Did Donald Trump make this bizarre statement to appease the far-right elements of Israel? They are extremely happy.
Taking to social media platform X, Jewish Power party leader Itamar Ben Gvir urged Netanyahu to adopt Donld Trump’s plan.
He resigned as national security minister in January, protesting against the Gaza ceasefire deal.
Gvir wrote in a post, “Now it is clear: this is the only solution to the Gaza problem — this is the strategy for the ‘day after.’”
Reacting to Trump’s proposal, Benjamin Netanyahu said, “President Trump is taking it to a much higher level. He sees a different future for that piece of land that has been the focus of so much terrorism.”
He also said that Trump’s idea could “change history” and it is “worthwhile pursuing this avenue.”
