Bangladesh may witness mayhem in days to come as radicals, who came unitedly to oust Sheikh Hasina’s government, started fighting for power. Political slugfest, law and order issues, and the rising of radicals led the nation to unrest. There are speculations rife that a coup is possible in Bangladesh as recently, the Army chief warned of threats to the nation’s sovereignty and Independence.
Bangladesh Army chief Waker-Uz-Zaman warned instead of working unitedly, engaging in squabbling and attacking each other would pose a threat to the nation.
Speaking at an event to mark the BDR carnage at Pilkhana in 2009, the army chief cited a reference to an attack on Air Force Base at Cox’s Bazar by miscreants, saying,” I am warning You. You cannot say later I didn’t warn you.” Zaman asked people to give suggestions, and inspirational insights but not hurt the Army. He stressed unity in the country and warned that failing to do so, the nation may fall into more trouble.
Zaman said that a free and fair election would be held by December, and he spoke to chief adviser Muhammad Yunus regarding this, and Yunus agreed to hold the election on time. He said his priority is to keep the nation sound and stable as he had enough in the last 7-8 months.
