Billionaire Elon Musk, appointed as an adviser in DOGE by President Donald Trump, suggested that members of the US Congress should get an increment in salaries to discourage corruption.
Trump has given power to Musk to cut down the government’s spending and role of bureaucracy and floated the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk wrote on X, “It might make sense to increase compensation for Congress and senior government employees to reduce the forcing function for corruption, as the latter might be as much as 1000 times more expensive to the public.”
The Democrat and Republican lawmakers are quite apprehensive over large pay prices but, recognise that it is a good way to serve people who are not well-to-do.
US tech billionaire Elon Musk on February 22 asked all federal employees to share the progress they had achieved in their work in the last week and said that failure to respond would be taken as a ‘resignation’.
A large number of DOGE employees resigned in protest after the mail received regarding Musk’s mail.
The Trump cabinet members raised their voices against DOGE emails but Trump claimed that his team was “thrilled” with Musk.
