US Secret Service Opens Fire On ‘Suicidal Man’ Near White House While Trump… News24 –


The US Secret Service opened fire on allegedly a “suicidal man” near White House on Sunday. At the time of the incident, US President Donald Trump was not present in Washington DC. 

The United States Secret Service issued a statement over the incident. Anthony Guglielmi, Chief of Communications for the United States Secret Service, wrote on X, “Secret Service personnel were involved in a shooting following an armed encounter with a person of interest shortly after midnight on March 9 at 17th and G Streets NW. Media staging area will be at 17th and Pennsylvania.”

In its statement, the Secret Service said, “ Earlier on Saturday, local police shared information about a suicidal individual who may be travelling to Washington from Indiana. Around midnight, members of the Secret Service encountered the individual’s parked vehicle near 17th and F Streets, NW. they also saw and individual on foot marching the description nearby.”

It further said in the statement, “As officers approached, the individual brandished a firearm and an armed confrontation ensued, during which shots were fired by our personnel. The suspect was transported to an area hospital and his condition is unknown. There were no reported injuries to Secret Service Personnel.” 

Trump was in Florida when the incident took place. The President had faced three assassinations bids last year. In Pennsylvania’s Buttler, he had suffered a bullet injury.
