As part of his diplomatic career, Wagan first served as the second secretary at the Pakistani embassy in Kathmandu and later as the deputy consul general at the Pakistani consulate in Los Angeles. Pakistan received praise from US President Donald Trump when he credited the nation for its help in arresting ISIS-K terrorist Muhammad Sharifullah after he led the 2021 Kabul airport bombing.
