Earlier on Tuesday, Trump took to his social media platform to endorse support for Musk. He called him a ‘truly great American’ and declared his plans to buy a brand new Tesla on March 12, 2025, as a show of ‘confidence’ for the DOGE Head. Notably, Trump’s declaration comes after Tesla faced major backlash on Monday amid chants like “Elon Musk has to go.” Some protestors reportedly vandalised Tesla showrooms, while others held peaceful protests at several Tesla locations. These protests resulted after Musk slashed federal jobs and budgets. The company witnessed a sharp decline in its sales for the first time.
