US Seeks To Sell Military Equipment Worth Millions Of Dollars To Bangladesh; Here’s Why News24 –

The United States is exploring options to sell its arms to Bangladesh. A media report from Bangladesh said that the United States is keen to sell its arms and weapons to Bangladesh. The interim government can take the opportunity to strengthen its relations with the superpower by buying weapons.

Trump already made it clear to Saudi Arabia that if the nation buys weapons from the United States, he will pick Riyadh as his first official state visit after his inauguration. Will Bangladesh’s chief adviser, Muhammad Yunus, gain the United States’ confidence by buying weapons from the country?

It is believed that the United States is also eying business from Myanmar as Bangladesh and Myanmar have not shared cordial relations in the past. The United States has given a proposal to Bangladesh to enhance its might by selling weapons and arms.

According to prothomalo.com, the United States embassy in Dhaka issued a press release and shared the information that  Lt. Gen. Joel P. Vowell, Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Pacific, visited Bangladesh and met with counterparts in the Bangladesh armed forces.

In the press release, the United States embassy said, “Lt. Gen. Vowell met with counterparts in the armed forces of Bangladesh, reinforcing the U.S. Army’s commitment to a strong relationship with the Bangladesh Army while highlighting shared security interests and ongoing collaboration.”

The two countries also discussed Bangladesh’s primary military challenges and potential areas where the U.S. can provide support. The factors that were discussed during the General’s visit were the potential acquisition of U.S.-origin equipment to enhance interoperability and capabilities, and appreciation for the professionalism of the Bangladesh military, and the importance of professional military forces in ensuring regional stability.
