Zelenskyy Ready For ‘Unconditional Ceasefire’ As Russian Envoy Prepares To Meet US President Donald Trump; China Supports Putin’s Stance News24 –

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in no mood to take any chances against Vladimir Putin and urged the United States to tighten sanctions against Russia. Zelenskyy accused Russia of breaching the agreements that were decided during talks with the officials of the Trump administration in Saudi Arabia.

According to the news agency Reuters, Zelenskyy is in favour of an “unconditional ceasefire”. But, the Ukrainian President has apprehension and he expressed it on his X handle.

Zelenskyy highlights Russia’s violation

Zelenskyy wrote on X, “I received a report from Ukraine’s Minister of Defense regarding contacts with partners, particularly with the American side. We have shared all information regarding Russia’s violations in the energy sector — there were strikes, and today again in Kherson, a Russian drone targeted an energy facility and equipment — deliberately and purposefully. Part of the city was left without electricity. We insist that every such violation must be documented and receive a response from our partners. It is precisely these small details that add up to Russia’s major delays in the diplomatic process.

The unconditional cessation of strikes proposed by the United States is not being implemented solely because of Russia’s position.”

Russian envoy to present his credential to Donald Trump

The news agency also reported that the newly appointed Russian envoy to the United States, Alexander Darchiev, will present his credentials to US President Donald Trump on Thursday.

On the other hand, an EU top diplomat alleged that there is evidence of war crimes in Ukraine’s city, Bucha. He charged Russia with killing several civilians.

Russia gets support from China.

Russia has already received backing from China as it is also in favour of the end of the Russia-Ukraine war and has shown its interest in playing a “constructive role”.  The Chinese foreign minister, Wang Yi, is also expected to meet the Russian foreign minister, and the two leaders are scheduled to meet and discuss the issue.

Peace talks in Saudi Arabia

The United States recently held expert-level discussions with delegations from both Russia and Ukraine in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from March 23 to 25. These bilateral meetings followed high-level discussions by US President Donald Trump with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy respectively.
