Man kills sister-in-law, 2 minor nephews over insurance money in Jharkhand’s Gumla

A man, identified as Anos Kandulna killed his sister-in-law and two nephews on Wednesday night, allegedly over a property dispute and insurance money in Jharkhand’s Gumla city.

The inebriated man got into an argument with his sister-in-law, identified as Poonam Kandulna (35) and allegedly attacked her. When Poonam’s two young sons tried to save their mother, Anos also killed them in a fit of rage.

Poonam, who lost her husband in 2017, used to live with her two sons, Pawan and Arpit, and brother-in-law, Vishram in Lungatu Padra Toli village. Her mother-in-law and Anos Kandulna lived in a nearby house in the same village.

After murdering Poonam and her two sons, the culprit dumped the three dead bodies, approximately 100 meters away from the house, in a cow dung pit.

Discovering that the family went missing for several days, Poonam’s brother-in-law, Vishram Kandulana informed the police about the missing family. During the investigation, the police recovered the dead bodies from the cow dung pit and sent them for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the village Panchayat heard the case in the village, amid which the culprit tried to escape from the spot. The angry villagers caught hold of him from the nearby village. He was then handed over to the police.

Station House Officer Chhotu Oran said that the accused has been nabbed and is currently under police custody.
