Here’s What’s Next For Skoda In The Upcoming Years News24 –


With the increasing competition in the EV and Hybrid segment Skoda has showcased plans to bring in new EV’s to the market. Skoda’s has developed the new Octavia EV for their emerging markets, it’s possible that India might be on that list as well. As per the information shared it’s possible that the unveiling of the Octavia EV concept might be preceded by the launch of new concept cars that would be launched at the Munich Motor Show. The new all electric Octavia concept would mark a departure for the brand from their conventional styling, and the new model would showcase the brand’s next generation EV architecture as well. 

Skoda Octavia EV Details 

Octavia EV would share the SSP platform with that of the Volkswagen Id Golf.  As per Skoda Ceo klaus Zellmer the brand was ready to use Volkswagen Group’s current MEB platform for further use in introducing a new EV line up. But Zellmer further delineated that the new EV vehicle would rather be underpinned by the Scalable Systems Platform architecture.

Production Spec Octavia EV debut by The End of The Decade 

 The production version of the Octavia Estate is due by the end of the decade, the car would be launched around the same time as that of the Volkswagen id Golf. The Octavia EV is expected to be the forerunner of the next generation of electric Skoda’s. 

Future EV Plans 

Apart from the Octavia EV the brand would also be launching a slew of other EV’s such as the Epiq, a sibling to the Volkswagen ID2, beyond that the brand is also working on a new Production Spec variant of the Vision 7s as well.  While the brand might be working closely to bring in new EV’s Zellmer further confirmed that they would be further working to ensure that entry level cars are offered with normal combustion engines. The brand has  profound plans to ensure that their cars  like that of the Fabia, kamiq as well as Scala are equipped with Mild Hybrid Powertrains that are required for the upcoming Euro 7 emissions.

New EV’s and Hybrid in India

The brand as of yet has not showcased  any impetus to bring any of these models to India. It’s possible that considering the overall changes in the segments in India and governments conducive regulations towards EV manufacturing the brand might launch The new Octavia EV and the other Hybrid vehicles in India as well.
